Sara De Clerck

Sara is a marine biologist and PhD researcher based in the Faroe Islands, working in collaboration with Greenland. Her research explores the role of top predators as indicators of change in the North Atlantic Ocean, focusing on the movements and feeding behaviours of dolphins and pilot whales.
Previously, Sara worked with the Iceland Orca Project, studying how noise pollution affects orca
vocalisation. She has always been deeply interested in human impacts on nature and is passionate about raising awareness through science communication.
As a creative soul, photography was one of her earliest passions – a way to capture the beauty of
nature around her. In art school, she expanded her skills with other media, but photography and
drawing have remained her main creative outlets. With a deep love for the ocean and its
inhabitants, dolphins and whales are the central subjects of her work. Now, Sara seeks to bridge
science and art, using visuals to inspire awareness and passion for our oceans.
